Murphy Sr, opened Murphy Real Estate for business in the Spring of 1967, after graduating from the US Naval Academy in 1959 and serving his country in the US Navy thereafter. After raising 6 children and dedicating 37 years in the Real Estate business, Jim Murphy Sr. retired in 2007 and his eldest son Jim Jr. took over the real estate business.

For over 45 years, Murphy Real Estate has earned a reputation as a long standing family name in Cape Cod real estate. Many firms have entered the Cape Cod real estate market, have been bought out by larger firms, consolidated, or left the Cape Cod area altogether.
